The Maryland Municipal League held its Summer Conference

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Maryland Municipal Conference was held this week, bringing together officials from across the state for the annual event.
The conference aimed to enrich, engage and empower attendees. Local government leaders and staff discussed their needs and shared best practices.
Organizers said the solutions discussed will help strengthen the quality of life for Marylanders. Several officials attended the event, including Salisbury City Council President D’Shawn Doughty, Pocomoke City Mayor Todd Nock, and state Sen. Mary Beth Carozza.
Carozza was honored to moderate a panel focused on parks and recreation.
“When you look into these opportunities, and you see that you can promote a healthy way of life with your parks and recreation activities, you’re also promoting tourism,” she said.
The Maryland Municipal League represents nearly 2 million constituents. The event covered a range of topics, including navigating national politics at the local level and preserving council culture while empowering newly elected officials.
Carozza called the conference a major boost, adding that it helps promote the Eastern Shore.
“We’re becoming more and more of a destination where families from across the region want to come—not just to Ocean City, but to the entire region.”
