UPDATE: Suspect located in Lewes officer involved shooting investigation

12 p.m. UPDATE: Police say the suspect was found inside the residence and has been taken into custody.

The scene is secure, and there is no threat to the public.

We’re told police also learned that a 69-year-old woman in a neighboring home was injured, but it is unclear at this time if her injury was directly related to the exchange of gunfire. She was treated at a local hospital and has been released.

10:24 a.m. UPDATE: Police say they have reason to believe the armed suspect may be barricaded alone inside a residence on Blackwood Drive, however, this has not been confirmed at this time.

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police are searching for an armed man following an officer-involved shooting in Lewes.

We’re told the incident happened during the overnight hours on Blackwood Drive. The suspect is identified as Jason Arnold, who is described as being approximately 5’10”, approximately 230 pounds, last seen wearing a light colored shirt and dark shorts.

Police say they were made aware this morning of false information circulating online, and that at this time, no officers have been injured during the incident.

Arnold is believed to be armed. Police urge residents in the area to remain vigilant, and if you see Arnold, call 911 immediately. Do not approach him.
