Scher’s Bridal Shop closing after 92 years in business
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – A long-time Pocomoke City business is closing after nearly a century in operation.
After 92 years of business, Scher’s Bridal Shop is closing down.
“My day was one of the best days of my life, my wedding day and that’s what I want for all the brides,” said Judi Scher, Co-Owner of Scher’s Bridal Shop. “I just want to make sure that their day is one of the best days of their life. It should be one of the happiest days of their life, honestly.”
For Marc and Judi Scher, it’s a bittersweet time as they get ready to close down the family business.
“We’ve had great workers over the years, we’ve had great customers over the years, we have so many memories from all these families that they really have our heart,” said Judi. “They’re family.”
Marc and Judi are thankful for that family, prominently displaying the pictures of hundreds of customers that have come through the bridal shop over the years.
“This little girl here, she came in a few weeks ago with her daughter for prom and she had gotten a dress 17 years ago,” said Judi. “She said ‘I was once one of your happiest brides.’ And I said oh I know exactly who you are and I went and pointed to her picture and she said, ‘oh really, I thought you told everyone that.'”
It’s no secret that the Scher’s will miss their workers and the families they served.
But, they’re ready to begin a new chapter in their life, finding other hobbies and spending time with family.
“Right now, both of us have been working at jobs since we were 16 years old, all through college, all through everything so, we’re just going to plan to visit our kids and grandkids, and do stuff like that,” said Marc Scher.
While, their next step may be up in the air, they will not forget the memories the bridal shop has garnered over the years.
Scher’s is doing a store closing sale and the owners tell us they hope to have a better idea of what’s to come in about a month.
