Rehoboth Beach Police are ready to enforce curfew for minors

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The Rehoboth Beach Board of Commissioners has adopted a new curfew for minors.

It applies to juveniles under 18, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily. Public spaces will be off-limits to unaccompanied minors during those hours.

Youth participating in interstate travel, employment, or emergency situations are exempt.

Rehoboth Police Department Lieutenant Mark Sweet thinks this move will help balance safety.

“We’re not going to chase down individuals and young people to kick them off. This is more to address problems as they grow, with large groups of minors that might be causing issues.”

Violators will be subject to a $100 dollar fine for a first offense – and $300 dollars for subsequent infractions.
