Perdue continues PFAS mitigation effort near Zion Church Rd. plant
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Perdue is continuing its efforts to address PFAS contamination linked to one of its plants.
In September, the company discovered its Zion Church Road facility was emitting the forever chemicals in to nearby well water.
Since then, Perdue has been working to test impacted residents’ wells. Vice President of Perdue Agribusiness, Drew Getty said they have been able to mitigate the issue with treatment systems.
“We have tested 100% of residents that have requested testing that are within the area. Of the tests that came back that needed POET Systems, that runs about 64% of homes that we tested require that treatment system,” said Getty.
“For the treatment systems thus far, we have installed 95% of the needed systems,” he added.
Getty said that not all homes have accepted the treatment systems.
