Pair arrested in connection to shooting near Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Co.
MILFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police say they have arrested two people in connection to a shooting earlier this month near the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company.
At around 7:15 p.m.on June 12th, troopers were called to the public access area next to 359 Bay Avenue for a reported shooting. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old Dover man was attending a party at the pavilion behind the fire company when roughly three masked suspects arrived and allegedly began firing multiple rounds at the attendees.
As the victim tried to flee, he was reportedly hit in the lower extremity. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects fled in a light colored Honda Accord with Delaware registration, and two suspects were identified as 19-year-old Tyree Johnson and 22-year-old Tymere Harmon.
On June 20th, detectives stopped the suspect vehicle and subsequently arrested Harmon. On Wednesday, members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force reportedly saw Johnson walking with a black satchel across his upper body on West Street in Harrington. Johnson initially fled behind an apartment complex, allegedly discarding the black bag before running into a building. He complied with verbal commands to exit the building, at which point he was taken into custody. Police say they found a loaded Glock 17 firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition in the black bag.
Harmon was held at SCI on a $101,000 cash bond for first degree assault, second degree conspiracy, and ten counts of first degree reckless endangerment.
Johnson was charged with first degree assault, ten counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, nine counts of first degree reckless endangerment, two counts of carrying a concealed firearm, second degree conspiracy, resisting arrest, second degree criminal trespass, and possession of a large capacity magazine. He was held at SCI on a $598,100 cash bond.
