New Fire/EMS-based landing zone will be celebrated at Northside Park Saturday

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Ocean City officials are inviting the public to join them for a historic ribbon-cutting Saturday.

The event is part of the Public Safety Expo, where community members will have the chance to see Maryland’s first Fire/EMS-based landing zone at Northside Park.

Medical helicopters can now save more lives with more efficient air transports. The new landing zone will also assist pilots in poor weather and low visibility.

Ocean City Fire official Ryan Whittington is encouraging the community to attend the event.

“They can sit where we treat patients and get an overall view of what Maryland State Police Aviation and Ocean City paramedics do to treat critically injured patients.”

The expo will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Northside Park. The helicopter is expected to touch down at the start of the event.
