BREAKING NEWS: Knupp Family Files Civil Lawsuit in 2022 Hit-and-Run Death of 14-Year-Old Gavin

Knupp

OCEAN PINES, Md. The family of Gavin Knupp, a 14-year-old killed in a 2022 hit-and-run, has filed a civil lawsuit against several individuals and organizations they claim are responsible for his death.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Worcester County, names six defendants, including Tyler Mailloux — who pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene, Kearston Lee Frey, Ralph DeAngelus and Maillioux’s former employers, Matt Ortt Companies and Ocean Pines Association, Inc. The family alleges Mailloux had been drinking before the crash and that others helped conceal the vehicle afterward. They’re seeking at least $1.2 million in damages.

“This lawsuit is the next step in holding accountable all those responsible for Gavin’s death,” the family’s attorney said in a statement. “Beyond that we will have no comment while litigation is ongoing.”
