Foodie Friday: Smoking Monster 

SALISBURY, Md. – Step into the Smoking Monster and you’ll find yourself in more than just a restaurant, but an overall experience.

From the offerings that you can’t find anywhere else in Wicomico County, to the robots that serve your food, you’ll already be planning your next visit before you leave.

Spectacular Sushi 

We started with the sushi, which was presented to us by Smoking Monster’s top employee, Bella the robot.

The sushi chefs rolled the sushi in soft pink soybean paper, a nice touch to such an aesthetically pleasing roll.

Food Made Your Way 

Arguably the best part of this one-of-a-kind local restaurant is that you get to cook your own food. Bella brought out a beef and shrimp combo, with an array of veggies and fixings, like kimchi and fish cakes.

Pick up a pair of tongs and you can get to work on the grill, flipping the meat and the vegetables, and plating the food yourself. The cooking element lets you create your dish, just the way you like it.

“The flavors are all coming together beautifully. It’s a very vibrant and colorful plate; it’s a really good portion. This is enough food for two to three people,” said Leila.

Yobu, Anyone? 

Owner Sufang Lin brought out a sweet surprise, Yobu!  The chefs packed the delicious little pocket with shrimp and rice, and topped it with sweet mango, for an added touch.

“So many different flavors in that one bite; the mango was nice and cold, and the shrimp was cold,” said Leila. “It’s a deep-fried little pocket, so that was warm, and it just brought everything together.”
