Emerging Leader: Kay Funderburg

WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new Emerging Leader.

Kay Funderburg is a Salisbury University student that recently became the recipient of the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

It’s an opportunity to study abroad in Sweden for an entire semester.

We spoke with Funderburg whop says they’ve always had a love for the nature and believes experiencing a different environment will help prepare them for a career in outdoor leadership.

Funderberg wants the youth to know the skills they learn will be transferable in the future and will pass their knowledge along to a local girl scout troop.

They also shared some advice for those interested in studying abroad but hesitant to take a chance.

After graduating, Funderberg wants to apply for a Fullbright Study Grant or a Marshall’s grant to attend the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
