Delmar secures come-from-behind victory over Fruitland in Maryland Little League District 8 Tournament

SALISBURY, Md.- Delmar came from behind to shock Fruitland 4-3, at West Salisbury Little League, Wednesday afternoon.

Delmar was able to start it off scoring a run in the first inning.

Fruitland would respond in the second inning with a run of their own.

In the sixth inning, Fruitland was able gain the lead with 2 more runs, heading into the 7th inning 3-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Delmar found in themselves a three-run rally to walk off Fruitland and secure their spot in the Championship game.

Head Coach Mike Horsey had faith in his squad to pull through and understand that improvements can always be made.

“I just told the boys, keep it up, find a way,”  explained Horsey. “That’s been our motto since the first game we were at Berlin, just find a way. They came back in that seventh inning. We were down three to one, and we came back and won four to three to a hard, tough Fruitland team. Like I said, we can get better. There’s room for improvement, and we’re going to work on that probably tomorrow at practice. We’re going to be ready for the Championship game on Friday.

Delmar will play again against the winner of Thursday’s game Fri, Jun 25 at 6 pm.
