UPDATE: Suspect identified in fatal Bethel hit-and-run, suspect vehicle located
6/19 UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified the driver in this crash as a 23-year-old Milford woman and have found the 2012 Buick Lacrosse involved in the crash.
Police say the driver was arrested for unrelated capias warrants and held at SCI.
The investigation is continuing, and charges related to the crash are pending.

6/17 UPDATE: Police have identified the victim and a potential suspect vehicle in this crash investigation.
The victim has been identified as 78-year-old Cheryl Hiett of Seaford.
Detectives have also identified a possible suspect vehicle as an unknown colored 2010 to 2013 Buick Lacrosse with damage to the passenger’s side front and windshield.

BETHEL, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night in Bethel and left a woman dead.
Troopers responded to the 8000 block of Bethel Road at approximately 6:15 a.m. Monday, where they found a woman dead along the side of the road, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident occurred at about 8:51 p.m. Sunday, when an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bethel Road, west of O’Neal’s Road. At the same time, a pedestrian entered the eastbound lane from the north side of the road and was struck. The vehicle fled the scene heading east on Bethel Road.
The victim, a 78-year-old woman from Seaford, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Bethel Road was closed for about five hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
