Delaware Sen. Commission Builds New Framework for Education
DOVER, Del. – Delaware Schools could be seeing more frequent changes as part of a decision in the State Senate.
The Senate’s Public Education Funding Commission voted to approve several new provisions.
They include focusing on transparency and impact on student outcomes.
State education officials say they will also develop a new implementation plan every 3 to 5 years.
Delaware Senator Laura Sturgeon says they’re looking to make a consistent, positive impact moving forward.
“Sometimes, you know, there are groups that have not been accounted for that you realize really need more funding. And we want to be able to be more nimble in the future. And if we have a standing committee that’s constantly looking at the formula and where it falls short, then we will be able to make those adjustments instead of having to convene an entire commission and get everyone up to speed and eventually make recommendations…” says Sturgeon.
The Public Education Funding Commission also agreed to gather more public feedback to further support Delaware students.
