MILLSBORO, Del.  — A Delaware man has been charged with murder after a 75-year-old woman was found dead inside a Millsboro home Sunday evening, state police said.

Troopers responded around 6 p.m. to a residence on the 22000 block of Phillips Hill Road for a welfare check, where they found the woman unresponsive on a couch. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daniel Steele, 46, who was also in the home, was taken into custody without incident. Investigators say he assaulted the woman, a relative, during a physical altercation and did not seek medical help afterward.

Steele was charged with first-degree murder and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1 million cash bond.
