Cambridge Waterfront Development Provides Update on Project

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Waterfront development has been a priority in Cambridge for years and now the city is seeing steady progress in its first phase.

Ground was broken on the riverfront just before Christmas in 2024, but it’s been in the works for over 30 years.

The Development Board’s Treasurer, Frank Narr, met with us there today. He said they’re looking forward to completing the first phase of the project, which includes the Franklin Street Promenade.

Narr tells us, “Not everyone has the opportunity to experience. The waterfront, if they’re not living on the water itself. And so as we formulated the concept development plans for this site, it has been an ongoing desire, and requirement from the community that we maintain that public access.”

Narr says the next step after this first phase is completed is to begin what he calls “vertical development”.

He added they would also focus on helping businesses to set up along the Choptank River.

“This is an indication to the development community that we are serious about this project, serious about moving it forward. And we have the support of our local elected city and county council, and at the state level as well. So we’re really excited about where we are and the future,” says Narr.

The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
