CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A Hurlock man is behind bars after he allegedly assaulted and strangled a woman late last month.

Just before 10 p.m. on May 30th, officers responded to Food Lion for a report of a woman reportedly in distress. Officers met with the victim, who reported that she was at her home when a man, identified as 52-year-old Brian Strawberry Sr., arrived agitated that she was not answering her phone. It was reported that Strawberry then began assaulting the victim by punching her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground. Once she was on the ground, Strawberry continued to kick the victim in her back and legs before dragging her to a bathroom where he began strangling her. Strawberry then allegedly asked for money, and the victim told him that she would have to go to Food Lion to get the money.

Once they arrived at Food Lion, the victim ran inside and called for help.

Officers found Strawberry in the 1200 block of Chestnut Place and subsequently arrested him for first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was held without bond.
