Cambridge Cracking Down on Code Violations
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The City of Cambridge has seen a noticeable up-tick in code violations over the last few months. Now Code Enforcement and the city are cracking down.
Cambridge City Manager, Glenn Steckman says this has become a problem over roughly the last three months, with a myriad of different violations.
Glenn says, “We have been enforcing a number of code violations, whether it’s housing violations, construction violations, grass cuttings, you know, people parking their cars the wrong way on streets, which is a police function…”
Some residents told me that Code Enforcement needs to curb issues like this, as they don’t want to see Dorchester County’s community get trashed.
And they want this to be the start of a bigger change.
“They cleaned it up, really clean up, and they clean everything up…it means everything to me. Because they need to crack down on everything, crime, everything…” says Cambridge resident, John Jenkins.
And city officials want people to know they don’t want to have to ticket those who are violating Code Enforcement, but they will.
“You are owning a home or you own property that’s important. If you live here and don’t own property, it’s still important because it sends a signal that this community is well-managed,” says Steckman.
The city is also looking to be more strict on code enforcement when it comes to storage pods without permits, as well as cars with flat tires parked on the streets.
