Burglary investigation leads to arrest of Dover man

Charles Johnson

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man was arrested Sunday evening following a reported burglary at a Dover area business.

We’re told officers were called to Spence’s Bazaar just after 6 p.m. for a reported burglary. It was learned that a man forced his way into the business at around 4:45 p.m. and stole several items before leaving the area.

A short time later, police learned that the subject was at a business in the 400 block of South New Street, trying to sell items. Officers positively identified the man as 57-year-old Charles Johnson, who matched the description of the subject from the initial complaint. He was also found to be in possession of property that had been taken from the business.

Johnson was subsequently charged with third degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, and theft under $1500. He was later released on a $3,800 unsecured bail.
