Blood Bank of Delmarva urgently calling for blood donations

DELMARVA – The Blood Bank of Delmarva is urgently calling for blood donations ahead of the July 4th weekend.

We’re told there is currently a critical blood shortage, particularly of types O- and B- blood. Type O- is especially vital, as it is the universal blood type used in emergencies when there is no time to determine a patient’s blood type.

The Blood Bank says donations across Delaware are trending 38% lower than what is needed to meet hospital demand.

BBD is offering blood donors a choice between a branded t-shirt or a packable backback at all donor centers and community blood drives from June 27th through July 7th.
