NEWARK, Del. – An Amber Alert in New Castle County has shifted to a homicide investigation.

We’re told the Amber Alert, issued for 3-year-old Nola Dinkins, was canceled after it was determined that the mother allegedly gave police false information. Police say the girl’s mother reported that her daughter was taken by a man at gunpoint along the 500 block of Gender Road in Newark at around 7:16 p.m. Tuesday. The mother allegedly reported that Nola was upset, so she pulled over to the side of the road, at which time she had been reportedly abducted by a man with a gun.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.
