Worcester Co. BOE names next Chief of Safety and Academic Officer

NEWARK, Md. – The Worcester County Board of Education has named Dr. Matthew Record as the school system’s next Chief Safety and Academic Officer (Secondary Education).

Record has over two decades of experience, spanning early childhood through high school education, and is currently serving as the Principal of Snow Hill Middle School. He has held multiple principalships with Worcester County Public Schools, including Snow Hill Elementary and Pocomoke Middle Schools, where he has implemented innovative strategies to support high poverty populations and improve academic performance. He was honored as the Maryland State Middle School Principal of the Year in 2020.

Dr. Record will assume his new role on July 1, 2025.
