Wicomico Co. Sheriffs Office warning of recent phone scam

WICOMICO CO., Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new phone scam.

We’re told deputies have received reports that a caller tells the citizen that they are Eric Landing and that they have a warrant for their arrest. They subsequently ask for money/payment to avoid jail time.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that they will never contact citizens and request money, gift cards, or other compensation over the phone or via email. If you receive one of these calls, you are urged to hang up and contact law enforcement immediately.
