Wanted Salisbury man arrested after chase, crash
SALISBURY, Md. – A wanted Salisbury man is now behind bars following a chase and vehicle crash on Thursday.
We’re told a deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office was driving on the Route 13 Bypass when he saw a vehicle he knew to frequently be occupied by a man with an outstanding felony arrest warrant for failing to appear for robbery, assault, and theft charges. The deputy stopped the vehicle and gave the suspect, 23-year-old Michael Brinson, several commands to step out of the vehicle, but Brinson failed to comply and fled the scene. Deputies chased Brinson as he fled northbound on Hobbs Road, where he reportedly failed to obey a red signal at the intersection of Route 50 and Hobbs Road. Brinson subsequently illegally entered the intersection and crashed into a box truck, which forced Brinson’s vehicle into a Ford Explorer, which was stopped in the southbound lane of Hobbs Road, waiting to cross Route 50.
After the crash, Brinson allegedly got out of the car and fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later in a nearby wooded area.
Brinson was held without bond for his outstanding warrant and was additionally charged with several traffic offenses related to the incident.
