Volunteers rappelled down the 14-story Ross building for Over the Edge fundraising event

SALISBURY, Md. – Friday afternoon – volunteers went over the edge of the Ross building in Downtown Salisbury. They did this to raise money for the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

The group was fundraising for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed Families. (ALICE)

Jennifer Barnes, who works for the Once Upon A Child Store, took the courageous plunge.

“They prepare you super well so you can enjoy it. The view up there was fantastic, and the winds weren’t bad at all. I felt in control even though I never did this before.”

Around 45 participants rappelled down the 14 story building – the tallest in the city.

The hope for the event was to raise awareness about the critical funds that support those who need it.

Motivated, Barnes enjoyed every thrilling second.

“That’s what is fantastic, and this money stays in the local community for people who need it the most.”

The event raised around $88,000.
