The Wiersberg Warriors Foundation is hosting its 4th annual chicken bbq fundraiser Saturday
FRUITLAND, Md. – The Wiersberg Warriors Foundation is hosting its 4th annual chicken barbecue in Fruitland. The group was established in 2019, after Fruitland police Spencer Wiersberg passed away from a rare bone cancer.
Ever since, his parents Richard and Gerrie Wiersberg have made it their mission to honor Spencer’s memory. They created the group to raise awareness for cancer and other diseases impacting young adults on Delmarva.
Gerrie is thankful, and told WMDT these events help tell Spencer’s story, and help others. “In paying it forward in Spencer’s name, we can’t ever pay it back, but we can certainly continue his mission in helping those in his community, and who we think are at the most vulnerable point in their lives.”
The group saying is – no one fights alone. They thank their sponsors Purdue for donating the chicken, and Operation We Care for supporting.
You can take part at 149 Redmans Tony Tank Lodge on 103 Clyde Avenue Saturday at 10am
