The Delmarva Fisheries Association partners with out-of-state fishing association

DELMARVA. – The Delmarva Fisheries Association is teaming up with the New England Fisherman’s Stewardship Association. Founded in the 1950s, the NEFSA has grown into a leading seafood industry organization.

The hope of the new alliance is to defend, protect, and enhance commercial fishing across Delmarva.

DFA President Robert Newberry declares partnership vital. He believes this will elevate their strength across state lines, but also maintain healthy and sustainable stocks of fish.

“As a single twig, we bend, but as a bundle, we are unbreakable. I think it’s going to make a big difference when you have different people from Maine, Maryland, and North Carolina all saying the same thing.”

Newberry tells WMDT, the DFA is still looking for other fishery associations to partner with. They plan to build a lawsuit against the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.
