Salisbury Zoo to host annual memorial 5K

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Zoo is hosting its annual Ben Layton Memorial 5K this Saturday.

The run is in remembrance of 3-year-old Ben Layton, who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2000 and died of the disease in 2002.

Attendees will be racing for a cure this weekend, and also to bring awareness to the extremely rare illness. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
