Preston man arrested for child sex abuse

PRESTON, Md. – A Preston man is behind bars following a child sex abuse investigation.

Late last month, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and the Caroline County Department of Social Services – Child Protective Services launched a joint investigation, learning that a juvenile had disclosed that they had been sexually abused by a man, identified as Michael Burgess.

Following a search warrant, Burgess was arrested and charged with first and second degree rape, third degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, incest, first and second degree child abuse, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment.

Burgess was held without bond.
