Maryland high school rodeo championship

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Maryland State Finals in Rodeo wrapped up this weekend at the Princess Anne Fairgrounds which involved high school students and junior high.

The three-day competition would have events like steer wrestling, team roping, bull riding, pole bending and much more.

The Maryland National Association chapter was the sanctioning body and it was started 10 years ago. The top 4 that qualified from Junior High and High school will go off to Nationals.

With the overall standings the top four females from High School include  Brooke Martin with 490 points from PA, and Kassidy Hearn from Laurel with 391 points. In third place was Savannah Williams, and Reagan Jackson finished in fourth place.
The top winners in high school for the boys include winner Nicholas Jackson with 165 points, Evan Morrison, Robert Vandervoort, and in fourth place Bennett Grant from Federalsburg. Grant also finished third in the Bull riding.
Student President Kassidy Hearn talked about her love for the rodeo and competing at the Maryland State Finals: “My horse worked really well around on my turns; he really listened to me with his core, and he got me in and he got out and he was just honest all the way through,” said Hearn. Hearn added that the horse is a blessing to her and is very grateful for him and the Maryland National Association Chapter.
