MILLVILLE, Del. – A Selbyville man is behind bars on multiple charges following an incident in Millville Wednesday afternoon.

At around 3:40 p.m., Delaware State Police and Ocean View Police responded to the Wells Fargo at 38011 Town Center Drive for a report of a disorderly man. At the scene, law enforcement located the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Alejandro Rivera, and tried to take him into custody. Rivera allegedly physically resisted arrest, causing minor injuries to a trooper and two Ocean View officers. Police were eventually able to arrest Rivera after pepper spray was reportedly used.

It was learned that while in the bank, Rivera caused a disturbance by yelling and punching walls. He initially left the bank when asked by bank employees, and employees locked the door to prevent reentry. Rivera returned a short time later and forced his way into the bank through the locked door, leading employees to hide in a secured room. Rivera tried to enter the secured room but was unsuccessful and eventually fled to the parking lot.

Rivera was held at SCI on a $15,000 cash bond after being charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest with force or violence that injure or struggles with peace officer causing injury, two counts of offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, second degree reckless endangering, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and second degree criminal trespass.
