Gun Violence Awareness event set for June 6 at Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — The Delaware Beaches Chapter of Moms Demand Action will host a public awareness event on Friday, June 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Bandstand to mark National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Participants are encouraged to wear orange in support of the Wear Orange campaign, honoring victims and survivors of gun violence. The event will feature music, speakers, a peaceful walk, free giveaways, educational resources on safe gun storage, and a memory board for survivors and loved ones.

Organizers highlight that 123 Delaware residents die by firearms annually, and that guns are the leading cause of death for children both in the U.S. and Delaware.

The Wear Orange movement began in memory of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old fatally shot in Chicago.
