Good Morning Delmarva discusses the Pocomoke River Raft Race
WMDT – If you’ve been yearning for the opportunity to race down the scenic Pocomoke River then the Snow Hill Chamber of Commerce has a creative way for you to do it.
The Pocomoke River Raft Race is set to returns on June 21st for its second year!
We’re told it’s a great way to experience some fun on the river if you’ve never had the chance.
What sets the race apart from others is that your team has to design their own raft.
We spoke with the Executive Director for the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce, Mandy Gladden, who tells us creativity is key when it comes to building your vessel.
We’re told that could mean paddling, kicking, or floating down the river.
They even saw teams use air mattresses last year!
You can dress up in a costume in an attempt to win the best dressed award and spectators can expect to see a food truck, a beer wagon, and music.
Gladden tells us it’s a good way to bring the community together and they encourage anyone 18-year-old or older to come out.
The race takes place at Sturgis Park in Snow Hill at 12 p.m. with check-in for teams at 10 a.m.
