Delaware Sports Museum & Hall of Fame inducts Class of 2025

WILMINGTON, Del. – Thursday saw a special ceremony in Wilmington, with the Delaware Sports Museum & Hall of Fame inducting its class of 2025.

At the Chase Center on the Riverfront, inductees were honored in a ballroom filled with friends, family, and other legends of sports in the first state.

This year’s class gathered at the banquet included nine athletes and coaches whose careers spanned many decades across seven sports, including football, field hockey, and lacrosse.
Among the standouts was field Hockey player​ Maxine Fluharty who had a legendary career at Sussex Tech. As a Raven she was a two-time Delaware high school player of the year and led Tech to 2 state championships before going on the win a national championship at the university of Maryland.
Jake Berger was a 3-time All-American at Salisbury University, where he won multiple national championships and was the 1995 Divison 3 Midfielder of the year before going on to win multiple championships playing professionally in the National Lacrosse League.
There was also Lenny Brown, who won a state championship with William Penn as the 1994 Delaware state player of the year. Kurt Howell, who was the first high school wrestler in the state to win 100 matches. Edgar Johnson, Laura LeRay Travis, Dr. Willy Miranda, And Ed Stone were also included.
Playing for Cape field hockey, Robin Adair led the state in scoring twice, and as the Division 3 player of the year she helped lead the Salisbury field hockey team to a national championship in 1986, the school’s first in any sport.
