Chase leads to numerous drug charges for man in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A Delaware man is behind bars following a traffic stop in Cambridge.

At around 9 p.m. Monday, a deputy with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle driving with a non-functioning rear registration place light at the intersection of Race Street and Cedar Street. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled and committed multiple traffic violations through residential neighborhoods, including failing to stop at posted stop signs, driving the wrong on a one-way street, and endangering pedestrians and other motorists.

The chase ended near the 800 block of Wood Street, where the suspect reportedly lost control and hit a parked vehicle. The driver initially fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later.

A search of the vehicle led police to find 668 grams of suspected cannabis, 18 grams of suspected crack cocaine in multiple bags, approximately 40 grams of suspected crack cocaine in a mixing container, inositol powder, two digital scales, 33 individual baggies, three mobile phones, assorted containers and packaging materials, and $3,232 in cash.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Bray’Veon Demby, was arrested and charged with numerous drug offenses. He was held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
