Cambridge boy’s lacrosse beats North Dorchester, Steve Hurley honored
CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Cambridge -SD take down North Dorchester 16-2 as both teams honor the legacy of coach Steve Hurley Friday evening in Cambridge.
The Cambridge South Dorchester Vikings would dominate the first half scoring 9 unanswered points from players like Darren Belizaire, Charles Spedden and Tabrion Watts.
In the second half the Vikings would continue to dominate but North Dorchester would not be shut out as they were able to score a goal in the third and the fourth quarter.
The real surprise was a ceremony honoring former Cambridge-South Dorchester, now North Dorchester Head coach, Steve Hurley. Hurley was honored for his part in bringing lacrosse to the Cambridge area.
Along with a letter from USA Lacrosse commending Hurley, people gathered to honor his legacy as well as old players coming together giving him a helmet plaque.
Cambridge Head Coach Brendan Bromwell had this to say about his former coach: “There are a lot of people here for Coach Hurley today and all that he’s done for the county and lacrosse around here. I can’t thank him enough. Speaking for everybody that’s here, and this turn out, is for him and what he’s done here in this county.”
