After the Whistle: Caesar Rodney’s Krista Brosius
WYOMING, Del. – Krista Brosius is a senior on the Caesar Rodney golf team. Before she fell in love with the sport, it was just a way for her to spend time with her dad–but she came around eventually.
“I’ve been playing since I was five, but I did not enjoy the game until I was probably in high school, which is crazy,” she said, “I think my teammates, like throughout high school, my teammates have just made me love the game. It’s been fun, going out, playing nine holes. We’ve had a lot of fun memories. And then I was like, ‘Okay, golf, kind of cool.'”
Her high school golf experience was enough to make her decide that she wanted to compete at the collegiate level: “I was like, ‘If I stop this game, am I going to be okay with that?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not.’ So I’m going to continue, meet new people, enjoy it all.”
Committed to play at Salisbury University, Brosius will be joining a brand new women’s golf team at SU that just completed its very first varsity season, a chance for the Riders senior to leave a legacy in the foundation of the program. “I met a bunch of new [teammates]. It’s a new group, I think they just started this year. So it’ll be really cool to like grow with them as a new team,” Brosius said.
With the conclusion of her high school career fast-approaching, Brosius is trying to find balance in honing her game before she dons the maroon and gold: “If I change my distance, then it can change other things, the accuracy, all that. So we’ll see this summer, I’m hoping to figure it out for college and then I’ll be set.”
