1 Dead, 3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Route 13 in Somerset County
EDEN, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles that occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Monday in Somerset County.
Troopers responded to the scene at the intersection of Ocean Highway (U.S. Route 13) and Flower Hill Church Road, where a Kia Soul was struck by a Jeep while attempting to cross the southbound lanes, authorities said.
The driver of the Kia, a 72-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Kia were injured—one was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and the other was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Jeep was also hospitalized with injuries.
All southbound lanes of U.S. Route 13 remain closed as the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assists with traffic control. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
