Weather Tidbits: Shelter Preparations for Severe Weather

In this edition of Weather Tidbits, we’re going to be discussing shelter preparations for severe weather. Here’s one question to ask when making a plan for when severe weather strikes. Will your home provide a good location to take shelter? Any site built home is good. And as long as you are in small room within the most interior part of that home away from windows, you will be fine when severe weather and tornadoes strike. Mobile homes, however, are not good. So in that scenario, ask yourself. Is there a neighbor, friend, or family member you can go to whose house is site built and safe? If not, find a storm shelter or business that is open that can provide that shelter for you. Identifying a 24-hour business like a gas station would be the smartest.
