Vacant structure in Eden destroyed by fire
EDEN, Md. – A vacant structure was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon in Eden.
Shortly after 2 p.m., Worcester County Emergency Services received a call for a structure fire in the 900 block of McGrath Road. Crews arrived at the scene to find a fully involved structure fire, the majority of which was already completely consumed by fire and had almost entirely collapsed.
Firefighters from numerous area agencies responded to battle the blaze. We’re told it took several hours and the assistance of heavy machinery to fully extinguish the fire.
Investigators say the structure was over 100 years old, in a significant state of disrepair, and had not been lived in for years.
The structure was deemed a total loss.
