UD shuts out DSU in Double Header

DOVER, Del.- University of Delaware shut out Delaware State University in a Double Header 11-0 and 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in Dover.

In the first game the UD Softball team tied its record of Home run hits in a single season with 39 off a home run from Gianna Costaro.

The DSU Hornets and UD Blue Hens went back and forth for 5 innings without a team scoring.

Top of the 6th inning, Morgan Hess hits a sacrifice fly and brings home Chole Blantz to get on the score board.

Top of the 7th inning, Katie Scheivert hits a double and gets a RBI as Sorella Gallucci scores. They now have 24 wins on the season.

Hess one of the stars of the game talked about how good the team has been playing this year.

“I think we had an amazing season so far, and I think it’s been a really big team effort,” said Morgan Hess about the season so far. “There’s been people really producing up and down the line up. One of the big things about our team is that it’s not just one person or a few people that are really doing a good job. It’s every single person and we can get somebody off the bench into into the game and they’re going to get the game winning hit.”

University of Delaware will play North Carolina A and T next at home on Sat, Apr. 12 at 3pm.
