The Orange Crush is the official cocktail for the state of Maryland
MARYLAND. – Maryland Lawmakers have named the Orange Crush an official cocktail for the state. Originally pushed by District 38C, Delegate Wayne Hartman, who thinks it will boost tourism and economic growth in the state.
However, things didn’t go as planned, according to Hartman. Who’s bill didn’t pass through the house on Sine Die. This forced the Delegate to get creative to get it passed. Hartman offered it as an amendment to Senate Bill 4011, which was originally designated chromite as an official state mineral.
Through his hard work and dedication, though, the House and Senate eventually passed and made the Orange Crush official.
“I think we can make the Maryland Orange Crush as synonymous as the Maryland crab cake, and hopefully in our restaurants, we’re going to see the original orange crush more.”
Legislation will go into effect on June 1st, with celebration planned later in the summer.
