Text translation and multimedia services added to Rehoboth 911 Center
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Rehoboth Beach’s 911 Center is now utilizing multimedia to 911 and text translation services.
These features allow callers to share videos and images when necessary during emergency calls. Additionally, non-English speakers can now text 911 in their native language, and dispatchers can use text translation upgrades to read their request in English. The dispatchers’ responses are then translated back to the texter’s native language.
“The more information we can give responders, the better care they can provide. This is another critical tool in our toolbox. Our primary focus will be getting all the information through regular protocols and then utilizing images and videos if practicable. The video-to-911 feature will be especially helpful in cases of water rescues, missing children, and with callers who may be unfamiliar with the area,” said Rehoboth Emergency Communications Manager Nicholas Priddy.
