Sussex County officials warn residents to remain vigilant due to condition changes from New Jersey wildfires
DELAWARE. – The wildfires that are taking place in the Pines Barrens region of New Jersey are affecting Sussex County residents. Large columns of smoke have traveled southward, altering visibility and atmospheric conditions in the first state.
Officials state the blaze is intense – and because of shifting winds – we’re seeing and smelling it in our area.
“We’re advising residents to call 911 for emergencies, we are aware of these fires, and you will see an influx of officers, especially in the next few days, as the air quality and wind direction change.”
The fires are 50% contained in New Jersey. Currently, there is no immediate threat to the safety, but officials will continue to monitor the situation closely.
