SU baseball cruises past Virginia Wesleyan for 8th straight win
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University baseball took down the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlins 13-2 on Thursday.
The Marlins struck first with two runs in the top of the 1st inning. They would be shut out for the remainder of the game.
In the bottom of the 2md, a solo shot from SU freshman Noah Burroughs cut the lead in half at 2-1.
It was the bottom of the 4th when the floodgates opened for the Salisbury offense. Salisbury scored five runs in the inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Max Ehrhardt.
The Seagulls followed their big 4th inning with an even bigger one in the 5th. Lead by a pair of two-run home runs from Danny Sheeler and Noah Burroughs.
As the starting pitcher, Aidan Brinsfield capture the win, giving up two earned runs with eight strikeouts across five innings pitched.
Burroughs finished the game 2-for-3 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1BB, and 3 runs scored.
After the game, Burroughs talked about his day at the plate and the Seagulls’ current eight-game win streak, saying, “Just trying to hunt fastballs, got into some deep counts. They were just hanging me good pitches so I just took advantage of them…I think we’re all just very resilient, we get knocked down, we come back even harder. Everybody on the team is really locked, I think we’re gonna do something special.”
Salisbury baseball moves to 24-5 with the win, with a conference bout versus Mary Washington scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm at Donnie Williams Seagull Baseball Stadium.
