Salisbury man sentenced on child sex abuse charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man convicted of sexually abusing a minor has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars.

60-year-old Alonzo Parker Jr. was convicted in December of sexual abuse of a minor, three counts of third degree sexual offense, four counts of fourth degree sexual offense, and four counts of second degree assault. The charges stem from an investigation that revealed that from 1998 to 2002, Parker sexually abusing a minor while acting in an official capacity at a local church, where he gained access to the victim for many years. The victim was under 18.

Should he be released from prison, he will be under supervised probation with sex offender requirements for three years and will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender for life.
