Salisbury Fire Dept. to train future fire fighters at Jr. Fire Academy
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Fire Department growing future fire fighters.
The third annual Jr. Fire Academy will welcome 20 kids age 7-12, and 15 kids age 13-16 for a week of fire training.
Participants will learn how to use a fire distinguisher, the jaws of life and how to cut access holes in ceilings.
Chief Rob Frampton said regardless of if your child is interested in becoming a first responder, this is the perfect opportunity for them to learn some lifesaving skills from the pros.
“It’s a basic introduction to the fire service, with hopes that at least one or two that maybe we could capture, with hopes of a future as a career, or as a volunteer in the Salisbury Fire Department,” said Chief Frampton.
The camp is free, and registration will open on May 5th at 8am. Chief Frampton said spots fill up quick. You can find the registration link on the department’s Facebook page.
