Road work coming to several counties
MARYLAND – The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a number of local road improvement projects in the coming weeks.
Those will take place in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
The projects will include milling, repairing roadway depressions, resurfacing and putting down new striping.
In Wicomico County, work will be done on Mount Hermon Road between Sayers and Powellville Roads, beginning as soon as May 8.
Meanwhile in Dorchester County, US 50 east and westbound between Bucktown Road and Austin Road will see improvements. That is expected to begin April 14.
In Somerset County, two projects will get underway. Work will be done on MD 667, or Hudson Corner Road, between beginning State maintenance and MD 413, or Crisfield-Marion Road. That is scheduled to begin on or about May 1.
Then, on US 13 northbound between the Pocomoke River and north of Costen Road, work is expected to get underway on or about May 30.
Finally, in Worcester County, work is expected to begin on US 113 southbound between Shiloh Farms Road and north of Langmaid Road. That is expected to start May 15.
Drivers can expect single-lane closures during resurfacing operations.
“We’re out there trying to improve the roadways, asphalt typically lasts between 10 and 15 years depending on the traffic volumes and the type of traffic and we have workers that are going to be out there so we really want people to slow down when you approach the work zones,” said Charlie Gischlar with the State Highway Administration.
All work is expected to be finished by late spring or early summer.
