Rehoboth Library host “Seeds N’ Reads” for Earth Week
REHOBOTH BEACH, De. – In honor of Earth Week, the Rehoboth Beach Public Library hosted a “Seeds N’ Reads,” extravaganza for kids and families, as part of a two-day celebration.
The Seeds N’ Reads event featured their brand-new Seed Library, to encourage local patrons and their families to spend more time gardening outdoors together. Delaware library card holders were able to visit the Rehoboth Library, and patrons could take up to four free packs of seeds!
Jay Campbell is the Library Events Coordinator and says it’s important to take care of our planet. “A lot of bee species, like bumblebees are rapidly declining, and in need of green spaces. And downtown Rehoboth Beach is a perfect area for that…We’re also going to be showing kids how they can recycle and compost at home, and how you can start your own garden at home.”
If you have a Delaware library card, you can visit the Rehoboth branch Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and if you missed April 22nd, not to worry!
April 25th they will continue with an Arbor Day celebration. Librarians invite young gardeners to help them plant and decorate their new tower garden from 3:00 pm 5:00 pm. Kids can also paint, plant, and take home their own mini gardens.
