Potential increased water rates have Worcester County residents looking for solutions

Increasing Water Rates

MARYLAND. – Worcester County has been hosting a series of water and sewer rate information meetings. This comes after an proposal was made to increase rates in the 2026 Fiscal Year Budget.

County meetings focusing on specific service areas have taken place in Berlin and West Ocean City, with a final meeting scheduled for tonight at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Chief Admin Officer Weston Young, has organized the meetings. He said they help educate the public.

“For when they come to the public hearing, they can ask better questions, or give a more informed suggestion for the commissioners to consider.”

There will be a countywide hearing on May 6th at 6 p.m. at the Worcester County Government Center.

County commissioners will have to decide on a solution – a month later in June.
