Pair arrested on gun charges in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police have arrested a pair on gun charges stemming from an incident Monday afternoon.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers made contact with 21-year-old Williams Friends and a 17-year-old in the area of Barrister Place regarding a firearms investigation. Both suspects initially ran, but police were able to apprehend them quickly. While running, the juvenile allegedly dropped a 9mm handgun that had been concealed in his waistband, and Friends was found in possession of a backpack containing two 9mm handguns and a 9mm Glock 17. It was further determined that one of the handguns had been reported stolen.

Friends was held at SCI on an $8,200 secured bail after being charged with three counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, illegal gang participation, receiving stolen property, and resisting arrest. The juvenile was also charged and released on a $50,000 unsecured bail.
